Based on work done by the Children and Youth in Challenging Contexts (CYCC) Network, this course will introduce promising practices for helping vulnerable children and youth. Over the course of 4 weeks, participants will explore seven knowledge syntheses identifying practices most likely to positively influence young people’s lives. Through a variety of interactive methods, this open access course will provide participants with concrete ideas for innovative programming, changes to policy, and the tools to assess the impact of the work they do. Participants who wish to complete the course requirements can register for a citation of completion for a nominal fee. The time commitment for this course is approximately 4 hours a week (16 hours to complete the course). Dr. Michael Ungar is the Killam Professor of Social Work at Dalhousie University, Scientific Director of the Children and Youth in Challenging Contexts Network, founder and Co-Director of the Resilience Research Centre. In 2012 Michael was the recipient of the Canadian Association of Social Workers National Distinguished Service Award. His ground-breaking work as a family therapist and resilience researcher is recognized around the world for the influence it has had on therapeutic approaches to children’s wellbeing.
